Export View as Video

Where File  Export Image captures the analyzer views at one moment, this command captures them over time: VoceVista plays the recording across a time range you choose and records the analyzer views — spectrogram, spectrum, note sliders, and whatever else you select — into a video file, together with the audio you hear while it plays. The result is a .mp4 you can show to a student or an audience without having the application in front of you.

Click File  Export View as Video to open the Export View as Video dialog box.

This is not the same as File  Export Video, which re-encodes the source video of a recording and leaves the analyzer views out of it. See Export Video.

The rendering happens offline rather than in real time: the dialog closes, the recording is stepped through frame by frame, and each frame is captured. A long range therefore takes a while, and the export runs faster or slower than the recording’s own duration.

Export Area

This section works exactly as it does for image export, described in Export Area: select entire window, or select selected views and check the views to include. The Image Size value and the Set size button give you the pixel size of the resulting video.

Set the size before you export. The video keeps the size of the captured area, so choosing a standard size here — for example 1920 x 1080 — saves you from scaling the finished file afterwards.

Exported time range

Choose how much of the recording the video covers:

  • selected range — the range you have selected in the recording

  • visible range — the time range currently visible in the spectrogram

  • entire recording

The length of each range appears next to the option.

Framerate

Select same as source to use the frame rate of the recording’s video (shown next to the option), or select custom framerate and choose a rate from the list. A higher frame rate makes scrolling views look smoother and produces a larger file.

Output Video File

Output Folder

The path to the location where the video will be saved appears in this field. Click the three dots to the right of the field to browse to a different location. Check use location of current recording to save the video in the same folder as the recording.

File Name

The name for the exported video appears in this field. You can edit the name directly, or click the three dots to the right of the field to enter the name and path in a file selector. Check use name of current recording to derive the name from the recording. The file name ending is .mp4.

Export Video

After you have made all of your selections, press Export Video to render the file. The dialog closes for the duration of the render so that nothing covers the views being captured, and a progress dialog lets you cancel.

The audio is rendered at the current playback speed, so if you have slowed the recording down for analysis, the exported video is slowed down with it — the views and the audio stay in step either way.
